Spend a Day in Chicago

Spend a Day in Chicago

Chicago is one of the most popular cities of the United States. There are a lot of things to do and places to see there, but if you’d have only one day in Chicago, here are the advices:

If you like meat in breakfast, Chicago has Hot ‘G’ Dog for you. There you can taste great Chicago dogs, sausages made with alligator or goat meat and duck fat fries.

The first place to see is of course the iconic Cloud Gate, in other words, The Bean. Just go to the Millennium Park to see it with awesome public art installations. Also there are free concerts, movie screenings, and sometimes skaters if the weather is cold.

If you want to see the downtown buildings at once, Chicago Architecture Foundation serves a 90 minutes tour with guides that narrate the backstories of more than 50 buildings. It is a must to join this tour.

After exploring the buildings, you should see the artistic side at the Art Institute of Chicago. There you’ll see more than 300,000 artworks at once, including Georges Seurat’s A Sunday on La Grande Jatte, Andy Warhol’s Elizabeth Taylor and many more.

Because you are in America, you should eat a nice burger and Au Cheval is for that. Although it is very crowded, it is worth to wait because its burgers are very beloved. In Au Cheval, single patty means two, double means three beef patties. And they serve burgers with a knife on it.

A luxury shopping experience is at the Magnificent Mile. Between Lake Shore Drive and the Chicago River, you’ll see various types of luxury brands and hotels around. All of the buildings will blow your mind there.

In the evening, another advice is to see the city from above, from the Willis Tower Skydeck. Overside of the building, there is a glass box where you can see the city just like it is under your feet. With the city lights, you can have perfect pictures.

To have a rest with a nice cold drink, visit Lost Lake. With its tropical Hawaiian interior, you can enjoy the drinks with an ambient. It is located at the Logan Square.

End the day with Chicago’s iconic house music clubs. One of them is Smart Bar. Because Chicago is the origin of house music, mentioning the DJs is not needed. Drag shows can also be found in there.
